What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Specialist position at IWS?
Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for vocational and educational planning.
Compiles and studies occupational, educational, and economic information to aid customers in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
Provides one-on-one counseling to individuals regarding career planning, job search strategies, and family/individual needs.
Identifies and addresses barriers to vocational and educational success.
Counsels individuals on the development of resumes and cover letters.
Identifies various Web sites, job banks, organizations, books, and other publications related to career management.
Provides individuals with the necessary tools to effectively organize and plan a job campaign.
Designs and facilitates career development training programs including self assessment, goal setting, resume writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing, and negotiations.
Refers customers to community resources and job placement services as appropriate.
Assists individuals to understand and overcome social and emotional problems.
Engages in research and follow-up activities to evaluate counseling techniques.
Complete data entry/case notes in a timely and proficient manner.

eBachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
