Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager - North America Melt Operations
Location: Morgantown, PA 19543 (With regional oversight of additional NA Melt locations)
Position Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Pay Range: $111,500 - $160,000 / year 2.5% Quarterly Cash Bonus
Reports To: General Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: HSE Engineers
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic NA Melt HSE Manager to serve as the regional leader for all North American Melt locations (including Morgantown, Henderson, and AlloyWorks). In this role, you will lead all environmental, health, and safety initiatives, manage regional EHS personnel, and ensure that site goals align seamlessly with corporate strategies.

Essential FunctionsResponsibilities
Regulatory ComplianceManagement Systems
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.) across all regional Melt locations.
- Research evolving environmental regulations and policies, instituting necessary changes to maintain compliance.
- Oversee applications for and the maintenance of all required environmental and operational permits.
- Lead and maintain an integrated management system in alignment with Corporate EHSS guidelines.
- Supervise specialized compliance programs, including radiation safety, film badge-monitoring, and Hazardous Materials Regulations for shipping support.
Safety, TrainingIncident Management
- Conduct and coordinate major accident investigations, analyze safety statistics, and issue corrective actions.
- Oversee the incident reporting software system, tracking the status of corrective actions and issuing progress reports.
- Manage all injury situations from the immediate incident through the return-to-work process, including the coordination of the workers' compensation program.
- Oversee localized Safety Committees and Safety Review Boards.
- Monitor, evaluate, and conduct in-house HSE training classes, including new employee orientation.
- Manage the Industrial Hygiene, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, and Management of Change (MOC) programs.
Field OversightStrategy
- Develop short-term and long-range planning initiatives and action plans to achieve corporate HSE goals.
- Frequently visit job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials; report findings and implement swift corrective actions.
- Partner closely with Senior Staff on Quality and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: * Minimum of 10 years of related EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 6 years of direct management/supervisory experience.
- Knowledge: Extensive working knowledge of OSHAEPA requirements and the potential hazards inherent to heavy manufacturing/melt environments.
- Skills: Strong computer proficiency (databases, word processing, spreadsheets), excellent written/verbal communication skills, and strong organizational capabilities.
Work ScheduleTravel Flexibility
- Willingness to work in a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and/or back-shift hours as required.
- Ability to travel to other regional manufacturing facilities.
Physical DemandsWork Environment
- Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
- Environment: The role splits time between an industrial office setting and a manufacturing mill environment. While in the plant, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, outdoor weather, fumes, airborne particles, and the risk of electrical shock or radiation. Noise levels are typically moderate but can be loud within production areas.
