Position Summary
Ivybrook Academy is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Assistant Teacher to join our teaching team. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for young learners. This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine love of working with children.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lessons and classroom activities
- Support children during learning centers, outdoor play, and enrichment experiences
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
- Model positive behavior and support students’ social-emotional development
- Build meaningful relationships with students and families
- Prepare classroom materials and assist with set-up and clean-up
- Follow school policies, safety procedures, and the Ivybrook Academy mission
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and special school events as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Experience working with young children in a classroom, childcare, or camp setting
- Warm, patient, and child-centered approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to take initiative and follow directions
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
