Responsibilities
- Respond to information requests from U.S. import customs brokers regarding import shipments
- Audit import shipment documentation for U.S. Customs compliance and accuracy
- Document, communicate, and follow up on discrepancies and corrective actions
- Maintain filing systems and records for domestic and international shipments
- Communicate with third-party logistics providers via phone, email, and web portals
- Track, trace, and report on inbound material flow
- Review freight bills, invoices, and purchase orders for accuracy
- Perform data entry for freight bills, customs audit logs, and related records
- Process freight quote requests from internal and external customers and communicate responses
- Support additional transportation department functions as needed
- Participate in cross-training across transportation functions
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and customers
- High school diploma (additional coursework or certifications in logistics or supply chain preferred)
- 2 years of experience in transportation, shipping, or logistics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS)
- Understanding of international and domestic shipping documentation and processes
- Ability to manage tasks independently and contribute to cross-functional teams
- Associates Degree
- Experience with import documentation and compliance processes
- Knowledge of HTS classification and import regulations
- Familiarity with freight auditing and logistics systems
