ITG Communication is currently hiring for Fiber Technician (Cedartown, GA)

The Fiber Technician is responsible for performing in-home and on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic systems. This role supports the expansion and stability of high-speed data transmission infrastructure and requires work in residential and commercial environments. Technicians must ensure all work is completed to customer satisfaction and meet company quality, safety, and compliance standards.

We provide paid training for all new fiber technicians. Training generally takes 4–8 weeks for those new to the role and may be shorter for experienced candidates. Training pay is $14-20 an hour. After training, technicians transition to production pay with opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair fiber optic cables for internet, voice, and video services

• Monitor signal strength and diagnose connectivity issues using testing equipment

• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and customer interactions

• Educate customers on services and assist with setup of customer-owned devices

• Coordinate with dispatch and field leadership to manage work orders

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of job site before and after work completion

• Adhere to safety policies and use hand and power tools appropriately

• Work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces

• Follow proper ladder and climbing procedures when accessing rooftops or poles

• Signal test and quality compliance results
• Customer satisfaction scores and feedback
• On-time arrival and job completion metrics
• Documentation accuracy and completion

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required

Experience:

• Prior experience in fiber installation or low-voltage cabling preferred but not required
• Strong oral communication and customer service skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work as part of a team

Exposure:

• Internal: Works with field supervisors, dispatch, and installation teams
• External: Regularly interacts with residential and commercial customers on-site
• Frequent travel between job locations; exposed to outdoor weather conditions

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
• Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and on ladders
• Visual and auditory ability to use tools and testing equipment

• Manual dexterity for handling fiber cables, connectors, and power tools • Tolerance for outdoor work in varied weather conditions
