Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and repair fiber optic cables for internet, voice, and video services
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and replace damaged or degraded fiber components
- Monitor signal strength and diagnose connectivity issues using testing equipment
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and customer interactions
- Educate customers on services and assist with setup of customer-owned devices
- Coordinate with dispatch and field leadership to manage work orders
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of job site before and after work completion
- Adhere to safety policies and use hand and power tools appropriately
- Work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
- Follow proper ladder and climbing procedures when accessing rooftops or poles
- First-time installation and repair completion rate
- Signal test and quality compliance results
- Customer satisfaction scores and feedback
- On-time arrival and job completion metrics
- Documentation accuracy and completion
Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Experience
- Prior experience in fiber installation or low-voltage cabling preferred but not required
- Strong oral communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work as part of a team
- Internal: Works with field supervisors, dispatch, and installation teams
- External: Regularly interacts with residential and commercial customers on-site
- Frequent travel between job locations; exposed to outdoor weather conditions
- Technical Accuracy: Completes installs and repairs to standard with minimal rework
- Customer Orientation: Demonstrates courtesy, patience, and professionalism in every customer interaction
- Safety Commitment: Follows all field safety protocols and contributes to a culture of safety awareness
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and on ladders
- Visual and auditory ability to use tools and testing equipment
- Manual dexterity for handling fiber cables, connectors, and power tools
- Tolerance for outdoor work in varied weather conditions
