Energy Marshal
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana; Lynchburg, VA; Atlanta, GA; Colombus, OH (Open to Relocation Candidates)
Responsibilities:
You have responsibilities including but not limited to being responsible for oversight of the energy isolation program on the construction site for all systems with stored energy, MEP (Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing- Elevated loads- Compressed fluids). Accountability to ensure all activities related to the energy isolation process are coordinated and executed by the General Contractor and Trades across the assigned location(s) according to established policies and procedures.
Performance objectives should also include:
- Ensure safe working conditions have been established by reviewing documentation (including procedures, job hazard analysis, and permits) and auditing the energy isolation program for construction, commissioning, maintenance and operations activities
- Work with construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe working conditions to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of MEP systems.
- Support the management of the electrical infrastructures throughout datacenter campus ranging from a single large capacity facility to several smaller ones
- Safety knowledge necessary to validate general contractor safe work practices and Lock Out Tag Out procedures for 120V and below, 480V, 7.2-14kV, 25kV values.
- Knowledge and capability to trace down electrical power through double and triple redundant electrical system and validate a zero-energy state.
- Support and hold accountable the General Contractor and Electrical, Mechanical, and Equipment Vendor Technicians to the Microsoft Energy Isolation Policy.
- Partner closely with Environmental, Health, and Safety teams to drive Operational Excellence in all aspects of the Control of Hazardous Energy.
- Training new and existing employees in defined Energy Isolation processes and procedures
- This individual must have the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with Project Management and Trades Persons on the project
- This role requires the ability to know how to work in a commercial construction site environment with highly knowledgeable and qualified individuals as it relates to their skillset.
- Knowledge and of electrical and mechanical equipment energization, start up and commissioning.
Basic Qualifications:
- College/university/professional?degree in Electrical Engineering, Master Electrician License or related work experience.
- 5 years of experience with industrial or commercial field engineering in mission critical facilities and electrical infrastructures.
- 3 years of experience developing and supporting programs in electrical safety in alignment with NFPA70E, National Electrical Code (NEC), and OSHA requirements as it relates to Data Center best practices
- 3 years of experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in a complex mission critical infrastructure environment.
-10 years minimum of working in a commercial construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience with the control of hazardous energy, risk assessments, and work procedure review. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, controls systems, pneumatics, fluid systems, and mechanical energies)?
- Established understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)?
- Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (Your ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)?
- Practical experience with Lock-out/Tag-out and verifying MEP systems in a zero-energy state.
- This role requires verification of onsite ship documentation, an individual with a TS clearance is preferred.

Typical task breakdown and rhythm Safety, energy safety, getting to know the drawing and electrical specifics, working with the trades people and contractors onsite to align with energy isolation.
