DCD Construction Manager (CM)
Location: Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; Boydton, VA; Colombus, OH, Indianapolis, Indiana (Open to Relocation Candidates)
Role Summary:
The Construction Manager (CM) provides on?site owner's representation during construction activities for Microsoft Data Center Delivery projects. The CM ensures scope execution aligns with Microsoft specifications, schedule, safety expectations, quality standards, and change?control processes. This role supports the DCD PM and coordinates with general contractors (GCs), trade partners, commissioning agents, internal engineering teams, and cross?functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily construction activities across assigned project scope areas; ensure adherence to Microsoft design standards, safety policies, and quality requirements.
- Monitor schedule progress; identify risk to critical-path milestones and provide recommended mitigation plans.
- Manage field?level coordination, including look?ahead planning, site walks, and progress verification.
- Drive proactive issue identification, escalation, and resolution; ensure alignment with DCD change?management processes.
- Review submittals, RFIs, method of procedures (MOPs), and work plans for accuracy, completeness, and safety/quality compliance.
- Support integrated systems testing (IST) readiness through installation verification, deficiency tracking, and completion of field checks.
- Lead or participate in commissioning activities as required.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including daily reports, photos, deficiency logs, and progress assessments.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of mission?critical construction, with experience in civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and low?voltage systems.
- Ability to drive contractor performance and hold field teams accountable through clear expectations and consistent follow?up.
- Familiarity with data center commissioning processes and turnover practices.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder?management skills.
