We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant (Payroll and AP) to join our Finance and Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in federal contracting, with specific experience managing payroll under the Service Contract Act (SCA). This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of government regulations, and the ability to ensure accurate, timely financial operations.

- Administer and process multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Ensure compliance with SCA wage determinations, fringe benefits, and Department of Labor requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure employee classifications and benefits align with contract requirements.
- Assist with preparation of Payroll and Month-end journal entries
- Oversee AP processes including invoice review, coding, and payment approvals.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing and entry of Vendor Invoices, Vendor Payments, Billing, Customer Payments
- Ensure compliance with FAR and company policies.
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve payment issues.
- Support month-end close by preparing AP accruals and reconciliations.
- Support the 1099 reporting process
- Prepare and submit required government reports related to payroll and labor compliance.
- Assist with audits (internal, external, and government) by providing accurate documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of evolving government contracting regulations and accounting standards.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the accounting department
- Collaborate with Contracts, Program Management, and HR teams to ensure proper labor charging and billing in compliance with contract terms
- Provide insights into payroll and AP trends to support decision-making.
- Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in government contracting.
- Strong knowledge of SCA compliance and wage determinations.
- Hands-on experience with Unanet ERP system is required
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with payroll software.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience with Unanet or other government contractor accounting systems.
- Knowledge of FAR, CAS, and other federal contracting regulations.
