ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads and oversees commissioning activities for protective relays in substations.
- Develops and implements detailed commissioning plans, test procedures and documentation for capital projects and system upgrades.
- Analyzes system performance and relay operations, including fault event analysis, misoperation investigations and protection scheme validation.
- Provides expert technical support to field crews, contractors and operations teams during installation, energization and troubleshooting.
- Collaborates with design engineers to ensure protection schemes are accurately implemented and meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Reviews and approves relay settings, coordination studies and system protection designs.
- Prepares and presents technical reports, compliance documentation and performance assessments to internal and external stakeholders.
- May mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance on commissioning practices, protection principles and field operations.
- Participate in strategic initiatives related to grid modernization, reliability improvement and regulatory compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Major in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in related area for Senior Engineer level
- Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors.
- Utility experience preferred.
- Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.
- Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
- Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
