Qualifications Required
Associate degree in PTA with an active, unrestricted license/certification as a PT or PTA in Mississippi and a minimum of three years' experience post licensure; Two years of the clinical practice must include experience as a Center Coordinator of Clinical Education or Clinical Instructor in physical therapy or a minimum of 2 years' experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PT or PTA program.

Job Description
To provide the highest quality of professional instruction and related functions in the teaching of his/her respective discipline; plan, organize, implements, and evaluates clinical instruction of students enrolled in the program.
Duties And Responsibilities
Instructor
Plan, organize and instruct courses assigned, devoting to this primary task the instructor's best professional effort
Review course objectives periodically and instructional strategies to meet course objectives
Prepare and distribute a current course syllabus as required by college policy
Participate in the selection of the textbooks and submit request for textbooks and other material needed for instruction
Maintain and accurately complete records as required
Arrive at the classroom sufficiently in advance of classes to adequately prepare instructional space and material for organized instruction
Counsel and advise students regarding up-to-date academic matters, college services and matters relating to student success
Schedule and maintain office hours in accordance with college policy
Participate in staff meetings, serve on committees and participate in other college activities
Maintain professional growth and development to foster and create scholarly production according to college and personal needs
Maintain professional working relationship with students, fellow faculty members, administration and staff adhering to the highest standards of respect for the rights of others
Be available to sponsor student academic related activities (e.g. clubs, organizations, events, etc.)
Participate in community and professional service activities and serve in selected activities as the need arises
Teach summer courses as part of contract, as assigned
Develop and recommend class schedules cooperatively with other departments and divisions of the college
Identify and recommend equipment needed for the program
Maintain a current inventory of equipment assigned to the program
Develop and utilize assessment materials and procedures to evalu te student learning and performance
Participate in the recruiting effort of the college
Provide placement assistance to graduates of the program
Provide information for student follow-up reports as required by state or local policy or procedures
Identify, recruit and assemble craft/advisory committees as required by state and local policies
Participate in the development and recommendation of a department budget
Comply with fiscal management system policies and procedures of the college
Serve and participate on state curriculum committees as directed
Perform other functions consistent with position as requested by the Dean of Health Science Instruction or Vice President of Instructional Services
