Job Summary:
The Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for infants/toddlers. This role requires a patient, energetic, and passionate educator who understands the importance of early childhood development, routine, and consistency in a infant/toddler’s life.
The Infant/Toddler Teacher will plan and implement curriculum-based activities, foster strong relationships with children and families, and ensure a safe and nurturing classroom environment in accordance with NYS OCFS regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Classroom & Curriculum Management
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans based on infant/toddler developmental milestones (fine/gross motor skills, language development, sensory exploration, and social-emotional learning).
- Foster a structured, yet flexible environment that meets the individual needs of toddlers.
- Maintain daily routines to promote consistency (meal times, nap time, diapering, potty training, play-based learning).
- Introduce age-appropriate concepts including early literacy, numeracy, social skills, and self-help skills.
- Incorporate songs, storytelling, sensory play, hands-on activities, and outdoor exploration into daily routines.
- Ensure infants/toddlers receive individualized attention and positive reinforcement throughout the day.
✅ Health, Safety & Supervision
- Ensure constant supervision of infants/toddlers and maintain proper staff-to-child ratios at all times.
- Follow NYS OCFS regulations and It Takes A Village policies on diapering, potty training, food handling, allergies, and sleep safety.
- Keep the classroom clean, sanitized, and organized following proper hygiene and safety standards.
- Complete daily health checks to monitor children’s well-being and report concerns to the administration.
✅ Communication & Relationship-Building
- Foster strong connections with infants/toddlers by offering consistent care, patience, and positive interactions.
- Build meaningful relationships with families, providing daily updates on each child's progress, meals, naps, and overall well-being via the center's app and in-person interactions.
✅ Required Job duties:
- Maintain a collaborative and professional environment, promoting teamwork and problem-solving.
- Ensure attendance sheets, incident reports, and daily logs are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain an organized and well-stocked classroom, ensuring materials align with lesson plans.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops.
- Stay updated on early childhood best practices, NYS OCFS regulations, and It Takes A Village policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in early childhood education, specifically working with toddlers.
- Strong knowledge of child development, infant/toddler behaviors, and positive guidance techniques.
- Must be able to multitask, maintain patience, and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a strong ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.
- Ability to physically keep up with active toddlers (lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing for extended periods).
Educational Requirements (per NYS OCFS regulations):
To qualify as a Infant/Toddler Teacher, you must meet one of the following:
- Experience working with Infants/Toddlers
- Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or other Office-recognized credential for the toddler age group, plus one year of experience working with children.
- At least 9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field, with a plan to complete a CDA or associate degree, plus two years of experience working with children.

Pay: starting at $17.00 per hour (based on experience)
