Title: Network Technician (W2 or 1099)
Candidate location: Candidate must be a CURRENT SC,NC,GA,TN Resident.
Work Location: Columbia, SC "Role is fully onsite"
Rate: $25.00-$35.00/hour
Duration of the Contract: 6 Months
Possibility for Extension: Yes
Additional details: Driving required, around sites mostly within Columbia with occasional travel to other counties. Valid Driver's License will be required.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The Network Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the DJJ network infrastructure and Office 365 tenant, ensuring reliable connectivity and access across all critical sites. This role includes both routine and limited on-call responsibilities for our critical sites, with a focus on wired and wireless networking,
account management, and infrastructure projects.
Required Skills:
5 Years of experience with Microsoft Entra ID and general Microsoft administration
5 years of experience with Windows Server environments
10 years of experience in troubleshooting skills in networking (wired/wireless)
5 years experience responding to help desk requests via ticketing system
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Deskpro ticketing system
Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
Experience with Ruckus/Brocade network switches
DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Duties:
• Help Desk & Ticket Management
o Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to:
▪️ Respond to Wired and wireless network issues
▪️ Network account onboarding and offboarding via custom scripts
▪️ Infrastructure-related incidents
• On-Call Support Rotation
o Level 1 Support: On-call every 3 weeks for critical site support (Network outages)
o Level 2 Support: On-call every 3 weeks (alternating with Level 1) for escalated issues at critical sites
• Infrastructure Projects
o Assist in network rollouts, upgrades, and cleanup efforts
o Participate in planning and execution of infrastructure improvements
o Support documentation and inventory of network assets
• Administrative & Technical Expertise
o Provide support for Microsoft administrative tasks, including:
▪️ Entra ID (Azure AD) management
▪️ Group policy and user provisioning
▪️ Microsoft 365 administration
• Assist with server administration tasks, including:
▪️ Basic Windows Server maintenance
▪️ Monitoring and performance tuning
▪️ Patch management and updates
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 5 Years of experience with Microsoft Entra ID and general Microsoft administration
• 5 years of experience with Windows Server environments
• 10 years of experience in troubleshooting skills in networking (wired/wireless)
• 5 years experience responding to help desk requests via ticketing system
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred skills:
