Position: Long-Term EC (Special Education) Substitute Teacher
Grades: 1st–3rd Grade
Dates: September 15 – December 18, 2026
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–12:30 PM
Compensation: $12/hr for uncertified
Position Type: Part-Time, Temporary – Maternity Leave Coverage
Position Overview
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered individual to serve as a Long-Term EC (Special Education) Substitute Teacher for students in grades 1–3 during a maternity leave.
This part-time morning position will primarily focus on providing small-group academic instruction and support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Instructional plans, schedules, and materials will be prepared by the EC teacher to help provide consistency for both the substitute and students throughout the leave.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide planned small-group instruction in reading, writing, and math for students in grades 1–3.
- Follow instructional plans, schedules, and materials prepared by the EC teacher.
- Provide individualized support and accommodations to students based on their identified needs.
- Assist with progress monitoring and collection of student data as directed.
- Maintain consistent routines and expectations for students receiving EC services.
- Communicate student progress, concerns, and needs with appropriate staff members.
- Collaborate with classroom lead teachers and provide classroom support as needed.
- Support students within the general education classroom when appropriate.
- Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures.
- Help maintain a positive, patient, and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary-aged children.
- Experience working with students with disabilities or diverse learning needs is strongly preferred.
- Background in education, special education, tutoring, intervention, or child development is a plus.
- Ability to follow established instructional plans and provide consistent small-group instruction.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Dependable, patient, flexible, and comfortable working as part of a team.
