Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our local waste collection team in the Village of Islamorada. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently using various types of trucks, including front-load trucks, ASL trucks, as well as grapple and roll-off trucks. We will train you in the different trucks and equipment as necessary. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic regulations while ensuring reliability to be at work every day.
Duties
- Operate commercial vehicles to safely and responsibly collect residential and commercial waste in Islamorada.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of services, including services that were done each day.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding service schedules and any issues that arise during the workday.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving laws and regulations.
- Utilize hydraulic systems when required for specific vehicle operations.
- Be willing and able to lift at least 50lbs repetitively when you are required to work on the back of a truck as a helper.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a strong understanding of safety.
- Familiarity with operating front-load trucks, ASL trucks, rear load trucks, as well as grapple and roll-off trucks is preferred.
- Ability to operate hydraulic systems is a plus (example: bobcat, excavator, forklift, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to trucking operations.
- Excellent time management skills with the reliability to be at work everyday.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) as required during loading/unloading processes.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
