Imam – Islamic Society of Arlington (ISAT)

The Islamic Society of Arlington (ISAT) is seeking a dynamic, approachable, and community-oriented Imam to serve as a religious leader and community builder. The ideal candidate understands the cultural landscape of American Muslim communities and can effectively connect with youth, families, students, and working professionals.
The Imam will play a key role in strengthening faith, unity, and participation within the community through religious leadership, education, and outreach.
Responsibilities
Religious Leadership
- Deliver weekly Jumu’ah khutbahs and lead congregational prayers, particularly Fajr, Maghrib, and Isha
- Organize and lead halaqas, educational classes, workshops, and Ramadan programming
- Officiate marriages (nikah) and funerals (janazah)
- Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to community members
Community Engagement
- Support Sunday School programs and youth initiatives
- Guide and mentor Youth Committee and MSA leadership
- Encourage greater participation in mosque programs and activities
- Provide mentorship and spiritual development for youth, families, and professionals
Community Outreach
- Build relationships with local officials, universities, and interfaith organizations
- Represent ISAT in community events and outreach programs
- Support community service and charitable initiatives
Organizational Leadership
- Contribute to the long-term religious and community vision of ISAT
- Participate in professional development and continuing education
Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited college or university in Islamic Studies or related field
- Strong knowledge of Qur’an, Hadith, and Fiqh
- Excellent English communication and khutbah delivery skills
- Experience working with youth and college students preferred
- Cultural fluency within American Muslim communities
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and community engagement skills
