Industrial Equipment Mechanic

Novice/Apprentice - $23-$27/hourly
Advance Mechanics - Wage negotiable

Keeps all applicable machinery including motor vehicles, forklifts, scooters, APVs, powerwashers, etc. in working order by providing preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair.
 

Position Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and regular service on powered industrial vehicles and equipment
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs powered industrial vehicles and equipment
• Makes recommendations for powered industrial vehicle and equipment maintenance and use
• Tracks service and maintenance of powered industrial vehicles and equipment
• Orders and tracks supplies used for maintenance and repairs
• Runs errands for supplies, etc.
• Conducts research on powered industrial vehicles, equipment, parts, etc.
• Performs welding and fabrication to make tools, parts, etc.
• Reviews operator inspection reports
• Performs DOT vehicle and trailer inspections
• Operates all powered industrial vehicles, equipment, and tools safely
• Provides customer service to internal and external clients
• Complies with safety policies and procedures
• Provides training on the vehicles and equipment including new hire orientation, driver training, and operational training
• Provides additional support as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Technical training as an automotive fleet mechanic AND 3-5 years experience in the areas of diagnostics, troubleshooting, fabrication, electronics, welding, hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and differentials
• 2 years experience supervising up to 3 journeymen
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong ability to work safely with equipment
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• Strong team player
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Valid commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement, air brakes, and acceptable driving record
• DOT driver certification
