Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Cook to join our team at ISH Dining Services in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods for residents, employees, and visitors
Plan cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules
Direct other food service employees in the absence of the Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director
Handle and prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations
Prepare palatable and appetizing meals, as prescribed for the residents by the attending physician
Meet required meal schedules
Take necessary measures to avoid food waste
Properly care for dietary equipment and production sheets
Follow menus and special diet instructions
Communicate freely with the Food Service Director
Cooperate with other food service staff and facility personnel
Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; at least two (2) years of experience in the healthcare field and/or related industry preferred
Ability to work beyond normal working hours; on weekends, as well as holidays, to the extent necessary
Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately
Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
Ability to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, agitated residents
Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
Annual Health Requirements
Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
Must follow CMS mandate/guidelines for vaccination
Additional Requirements
Must adhere to ISH Health Services' attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook
Must maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications
Must report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy
Must report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator
Must report any retaliation or discrimination to the Food Service Director
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
