Lancaster Kitchen Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lancaster Kitchen Manager to join our team at ISH Health Services. As a Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of the Dining Services department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards. Your primary goal will be to ensure quality nutritional meals are prepared and served from kitchens maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Responsibilities:
Inspect the Dietary Department daily to ensure it is safe and sanitary
Inspect storage areas on a daily basis for proper temperatures, cleanliness, and order
Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced and therapeutic meals that reflect the likes and dislikes of residents and Public Health regulations
Direct and supervise dietary functions and personnel
Purchase food products from approved vendors
Maintain cost records and work to meet budget guidelines
Monitor monthly expenditures
Hires, orients, trains, counsels, disciplines, and when appropriate, terminates dietary employees
Schedules work hours and assignments and reviews staff work performance
Participates in department head meetings
Participates in monthly QAPI meetings and prepares reports accordingly
Participates in the Manager on Duty program as indicated
Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state, and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines
Prepare and cook a wide variety of palatable and appetizing meals, as prescribed for residents, employees, and visitors
Follow menus and special diet instructions prescribed by the attending physician
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED or at least two (2) years of experience in the healthcare field and/or related industry
Must be knowledgeable of Federal and State rules and regulations regarding nursing home dietary requirements
Prior food service experience in a long-term care setting, preferred
Prior supervisory experience, preferred
Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment
Must be able to maintain regular attendance
Must be able to work beyond normal working hours; on weekends, as well as holidays, to the extent necessary
Must adhere to ISH Health Services' attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook
Working Conditions:
This position requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting for extended periods
Must be able to lift and transfer residents as needed
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to facility policies and procedures
