What You'll Do
As a Child Advocate, you will:
- Provide a safe, healthy, and non-judgmental environment for children and families
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate, therapeutic, and educational activities
- Support children with homework, play, and daily routines
- Implement developmentally appropriate practices and therapeutic curriculum
- Follow agency policies, licensing regulations, and approved behavior guidance techniques
- Maintain required child-to-staff ratios at all times
- Accurately complete documentation and daily logs
- Assist with household responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, and organization
- Communicate safety concerns or policy issues immediately to supervisors
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners
What We're Looking For
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings (background checks, drug test, TB screening, references)
- Valid Missouri driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of insurance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- One year of experience working with children in a childcare or residential setting
- Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm, flexible, and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate and mature approach to working with children and families
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt under pressure
- Creativity, initiative, and a commitment to child development
- Respect for confidentiality at all times
- Practice proactive, not reactive responses
- Shift work required, including every other weekend
- Occasional coverage of other shifts as needed
- Daily contact with children in a residential care setting
