Position Summary

Irwin Guides is seeking Office/Sales Associates: Seasonal, Part Time. The position will be responsible for assisting the Irwin Guides Administrator with day-to-day operations included but not limited to data entry, completing and filing paperwork, interacting with guests face-to-face or via phone/email, booking trips, and assisting with walk-in traffic and retail inquiries/purchases. A strong candidate will have knowledge of the outdoor industry and local activities, strong administrative skills, effective communication, both oral and written, is detail-oriented, responsive to delegation, and comfortable working independently and in a fast paced team environment. During the operational seasons this position will be required to work some early mornings and late afternoons, at least one weekend day per week, and some holidays as necessary. This is a part-time, seasonal position starting at $23 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Purpose

• Assist with management of Irwin Guides operations, including day sales, guide operations, sales and marketing duties, retail management, and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

• Day Activity Sales, Bookings, and Logistics
• • Assist with all day activity bookings : communication, relaying logistics, personal data, booking calendar, guide staffing, taking payment, emails, etc.
  • Send out daily logistics emails with guide assignments and guest personal data.
  • Sell photographer days and provide photographs to all guests.
  • Sell add-ons such as catered lunches, additional guided days, ski atlas etc.
  • Assist with catering logistics for all day activities.
  • Maintain guest facing appearance of IG reception area.
• Guide Operations
  • Monitor radio on operational days at Irwin Cat Skiing.
  • Support operational logistics as appropriate and necessary
• • Assist with morning set up for IG day guests, greeting, waivers, beverages, etc.
  • Select guide staff to work day trips, courses, etc. and communicate to all necessary staff.
  • Manage emergencies by helping communicate between guide staff and outside resources.
• Administrative
• • Operate the Irwin Guides front desk and schedule coverage for all necessary times.
  • Answer phones and field sales calls.
  • Respond to walk in traffic in reception area, including walk in sales, visitors to the building, deliveries, and reception duties for all operations within the building.
  • Maintain systems, standards and organization for the “front of the house”.
  • Assist with creation & management of information in Customer Relationship Management software.
  • General accounting including processing tips, bank deposits, and petty cash.
• Sales and Marketing
• • Assist multiple departments to manage print and online media, social media, events, and other advertising outlets.
  • Communicate with clients regarding day activities.
  • Help create, advertise and sell professional training programs (avalanche courses, wilderness medicine, Youth Leadership Program, corporate retreats, etc.).
• Website, Newsletters, Blog, and Social Media
• • Manage Irwin Guides website.
  • Implement blog, newsletter, e-blast strategy and schedules.
  • Oversee and help provide content for social media.
• Retail
• • Utilize Point of Sale system to assist retail customers and perform daily closeouts.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in an administrative role.

Special Position Requirements

• Knowledge of the outdoor industry and local activities/locations.
• Effective oral & written communication skills.
• Orientation to detail, sensitivity to deadlines, and responsiveness to delegation.
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced team environment.
• Residence in the Gunnison Valley and ability to work in person at the Irwin Guides Crested Butte location.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
• Ability to sit at a desk and type at a computer for extensive periods of time.
