What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Assistant position at IRVINGTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL INC?
Purpose of Position/Summary:
This Instructional Assistant (IA) position supports students with reading remediation in small groups in or out of the classroom. The IA collaborates with teachers to determine the most significant needs of students and plan for targeting individual student needs. This position will require the candidate to receive training in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading remediation, which will be provided by the school and utilized to support students who are reading below grade-level.
Job Requirements:
- Candidate will work with academically at-risk students both in and out of the classroom setting
- Candidate must demonstrate an enthusiasm for working with and developing positive, supportive relationships with middle school students
- Candidate must be a team player
Job Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess 60 college credit hours OR an associate degree OR pass the Praxis Paraprofessional Exam
- Experience working with at-risk student populations preferred
- Must be flexible and hardworking, dedicated to the success of students
