Job Description: Irvine Chinese Immersion Academy is seeking a dependable, organized, and student-focused Food Service Assistant to support the daily operations of our school nutrition program. The Food Service Assistant plays an essential role in ensuring students receive nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local child nutrition program requirements. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, demonstrates excellent customer service, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative school environment and values making a positive impact on students each day. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with USDA and California Department of Education Child Nutrition Program guidelines. - Receive, inspect, and properly store food deliveries while maintaining inventory records. - Ensure food is prepared, handled, stored, and served in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. - Maintain accurate meal counts and complete required documentation for reimbursement and compliance. - Set up and break down serving areas before and after meal service. - Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. - Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. - Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and reducing food waste. - Provide courteous and respectful customer service to students, staff, and families. - Collaborate with school staff to support meal service operations and special school events. - Maintain compliance with health department regulations and school nutrition program requirements. - Perform other related duties as assigned.
