Job Summary:

Iroquois recently built a new 12,000 sq ft shop and is looking for additional Heavy Truck and Equipment Mechanics. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks and repairs on company owned equipment. The fleet primarily consists of Class 8 dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks. Equipment also involves some pickup trucks and various other construction tools. We have multiple positions available including Shop Supervisor, Mechanic and Mechanic Assistant. Job position will be based on experience.

Key Accountabilities:

In this role, the right candidate should be able to perform the following tasks:

• Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks on heavy trucks including but not limited to; greasing, oil changes and brake adjustments
• Identify and solve mechanical and electrical issues (brakes, suspension, fuel system, lighting, etc.)
• Drive trucks to outside vendors for major repairs
• Work with the other members of the shop and maintenance team
• Identify and diagnose problems with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Maintain and repair concrete conveyors

Requirements:

• Clean CDL license is preferred (Class A or B)
• Small tools must be brought to perform daily activities (Iroquois will supply major tools)
• Experience working on air brakes, hydraulic systems, strong electrical trouble shooting ability, heavy equipment
• Punctual and dependable

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Written and verbal skills with the ability to fill out a work order
• Ability to interpret and communicate the status of the equipment to supervisor(s)
• Have a general knowledge of the working capacity of the equipment
• Welding and fabrication skills preferred but not required
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Work Experience:

Iroquois would prefer someone with at least 2 years of experience in a similar position. We would be willing to substitute other skills or abilities on lieu of documented work experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, speak and listen to the English language

Physical Demands:

• May be required to work outside of the shop environment; this may include cold weather situations and / or on job sites to correct equipment breakdowns
• Must be able to work underneath and around large trucks
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs without assistance

Work Environment:

Most work will be done in a maintenance shop environment but may occasionally require the performance of roadside breakdown work.

Education:

No degree required. Prior work experience and skills are sufficient.

Compensation:

Competitive pay based on experience. 2nd shift pay differential.
