Financial Controller

Iroquois is a growing construction company in the Western NY market. Iroquois performs multiple trades including Trucking, Rebar Installation, Concrete Supply and Select Demolition all with union trades.

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations. The Controller will work with ownership to ensure GAAP compliant financial reports and maintain communication with our outside accounting vendor for quarterly and year end reviews. Lead the team of other accountants and financial oversight of project managers. Report to ownership with any financial issues or concerns and give honest assessment of the company financial status to allow for accurate strategic decision making.

• Oversee all financial and accounting aspects of the company.
• Balance bank accounts and general ledger daily.
• Ensure proper cash flow which requires reviews of accounts payable and accounts receivable reports.
• Maintain banking relationships.
• Provide financial outlook reports to advise on strategic decision making.
• Review all Work In Progress (WIP) reports for construction projects to ensure accuracy and identify issues with financial aspects of projects.
• Work with project managers and division managers to review project budgets and ensure proper cost controls are in place. Analyze the company as a whole and projects to identify irregularities.
• Ensure general company compliance with government, bank and customer financial reporting requirements.
• Lead the team of roughly 7 accounting team members in the office.
• Mentor the younger members of the accounting team to encourage their growth and development.
• Ensure all payroll, benefits and taxes payments are being made as required.
• Review all insurance coverages are in compliance and cost effective. Iroquois is in a Captive program for GL, Workers Comp and Auto.

• Strong analytical skills are required to dive deep into complex problems which often, no one else in the office has the technical skills to solve.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail required.
• Ability to create and maintain complex spreadsheets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Use of accounting software for financial tracking and reporting. Iroquois uses ComputerEase accounting software but training for this specific software will be available as needed.

<Work Environment>

Iroquois has an office with approximately 17 team members including ownership, project managers and accounting staff. The controller’s office is separate and central to the accounting team. This is an in-person job. Remote work and hybrid work is not allowed.

Iroquois has been growing over the past few years and has multiple divisions of the company which can be interesting and exciting.

Required:

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience including leadership roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA not required.
• Experience in construction accounting is strongly preferred but other public and private accounting would be considered as well.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
