The Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all welded assemblies, fabricated components and finished products meet applicable industry standards, customer specifications and internal quality requirements. This role serves as the primary guardian of product integrity throughout all phases of manufacturing - from raw material receiving through final inspection and shipment release.
QAQC Inspector works closely with Project Managers, welding leads and engineering personnel to identify non-conformances, drive corrective action and promote a culture of quality throughout the facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of weld joints, base materials and finished assemblies per applicable codes
- Conduct or witness non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures including visual testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing and ultrasonic testing as qualified
- Inspect incoming raw materials (plate, pipe, structural steel, filler metals, flux) for compliance with mill certifications and purchase order specifications
- Verify dimensional accuracy of fabricated parts using calipers, tape measures, weld gauges, straightedges, and coordinate measuring instruments
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, weld maps, welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records
- Maintain accurate inspection records, non-conformance reports, weld logs and traveler documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and project-based inspection reports for Manager and customer representatives
- Support internal and external quality audits by maintaining organized auditable records
- Confirm proper application of approved WPS on the shop floor, monitor fit-up, joint preparation, preheat, and interpass temperatures
- Monitor consumable traceability, storage, and handling
- Participate in PM meeting to address quality requirements early in the manufacturing process
- Identify root causes of recurring defects and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Interface with customer-designated inspectors and third-party inspectors during witness and hold point inspections
- Support preparation and release of data books, material test reports and final inspection packages
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, weld symbols, and specification
- Proficiency with standard inspection tools: Calipers, micrometers, weld gauges
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to document findings clearly and professionally
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with project management tools and manufacturing processes is beneficial
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, crouch, and climb ladders or scaffolding to access inspection areas
- Must pass a background check and motor vehicle record check
- Arrange for reliable transportation to and from work

Work Environment
This job operates in a diverse environments, split between an office setting and the production floor. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods of time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This if a Full-Time, Exempt positions working Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position may require occasional evening and weekend work as job duties demand.
Licenses & Certifications

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma
- 3 years of Hands-on QAQC inspection experience in a welding or metal fabrication environment
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code,
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire
Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
