Job Description: Pension Processor
Reports to: Pension Manager
Position Summary
The Pension Plan and Supplemental Monthly Annuity Fund are both multi-employer benefit funds established over 50 years ago. We are responsible for administering the retirement benefits for many ironworkers in the Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa areas.
The Pension Processor is an entry level position in the Pension Department which, if you progress, can lead to a Senior Pension Processor. This job requires an ardent attention to detail and adherence to strict deadlines of crucial importance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Calculate and process pension distributions for members.
Daily monitoring of “active” member files guiding them from the beginning to the end of the retirement process and ensuring that deadlines are met.
Meet with members when then they visit the Fund Office to discuss their retirement needs.
Customer phone service to answer numerous questions throughout the business day.
Calculate and process pension distributions for the spouses and beneficiaries of deceased members.
Calculate and process pension distributions for the ex-spouses of members that were awarded pension benefits due to a divorce.
Prepare and send written correspondence to members which accurately describes the appropriate plan provisions.
Work with plan attorney, consultant and auditor on various projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma and some office work experience.
Professional and positive attitude with a customer service focused approach.
Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Able to work independently and within a team environment equally well.
