Position Summary
The Quality Control Tech is responsible for routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, and finished materials to ensure consistent production of sand product at the mine site. The Quality Control department will maintain the lab database, produce routine shift reports and communicate with the production and plant management staff as necessary to adjust production output and maintain compliance within product standards.
Essential Functions
- Perform routine inspection of sand product by executing standard testing protocols according to SOP.
- Make observations and interpret findings; report any errors and non-conformities to supervisor immediately.
- Organize and store all chemical substances and testing materials according to safety instructions.
- Track and report all materials used.
- Maintain a clean workspace by properly disposing of trash/waste and upholding standard housekeeping procedures.
- Communicate and enforce laboratory safety rules; follow API standards and procedures.
- Must always wear proper PPE.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- One (1) year prior experience with sand plant production related is preferred, but not required
- High school education or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Exceptional communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal abilities; organization and attention to detail
- Proficient ability to use a computer and standard Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook email)
- Must possess good math skills and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations
- Aptitude to learn new methods and new instrumentation processes
- Must display knowledge and awareness of mining and manufacturing site hazards
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, squat, reach and be on feet for long periods of time.
