Iron Mechanical is seeking an experienced Pre-Fabrication Plant Manager to lead and oversee our Pre-Fabrication Shop, a critical operational function supporting the company’s plumbing, piping, and HVAC construction services. We specialize in large commercial, industrial, multi-family, and high-rise plumbing and HVAC construction, and we take great pride in pre-fabricating the majority of our materials in-house to support quality, efficiency, and safety in the field.The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep plumbing, piping, and mechanical construction knowledge, a strong operational mindset, and a proactive, solutions-oriented attitude. This role is critical to ensuring seamless coordination between design, project management, and field operations.Job DescriptionThe Pre-Fabrication Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all pre-fabrication operations in support of Iron Mechanical’s plumbing and HVAC projects.Key Responsibilities:Provides leadership and direction for all pre-fabrication activities related to plumbing and HVAC systems for large commercial, industrial, and multi-family construction projectsOversees all shop operations from project kickoff through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, quality, and production targets are metCollaborates with Project Managers, BIM/VDC, and field leadership to ensure accurate fabrication based on approved drawings, models, and specificationsPlans future workload and production schedules to align shop output with project timelines and field installation needsDevelops and manages shop staffing, workflow, material staging, and equipment utilizationEstablishes and enforces standard operating procedures to improve efficiency, quality control, and consistency across all prefabrication processesInspects fabricated materials and assemblies to ensure compliance with design, code, and Iron Mechanical quality standardsProvides regular progress updates and reporting to senior management and project teamsImplements and utilizes production tracking, scheduling, and reporting tools to monitor performance and throughputEnsures strict compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations within the shopDrives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize prefabrication strategiesEssential QualificationsMinimum of five (5) years of management experience in construction, prefabrication, or mechanical operationsStrong working knowledge of plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems in large commercial and multi-family constructionProven ability to manage schedules, manpower, materials, and production workflowsExcellent organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with project managers, field crews, engineers, and senior leadershipProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); scheduling or production software experience preferredAbility to read and interpret CAD drawings, BIM models, plans, and as-built drawingsStrong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skillsSelf-starter with a proactive mindset and the ability to manage conflict, priorities, and time-sensitive challengesExperience with Spectrum, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, and/or similar construction software is a strong plusBenefitsIron Mechanical offers a collaborative and supportive work environment, challenging and meaningful work, and a competitive benefits package for all full-time employees, including:Health, dental, vision, and life insurancePaid holidays, vacation, and sick time401(k) retirement plan with company match Company DescriptionWe are a design/build mechanical contractor specializing in the design and construction of mechanical and plumbing systems for large commercial, high-rise, and multifamily buildings.
