What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Court Bailiff position at Iron County?
Accepting applications for a Part-time Bailiff (up to 25 hours/week) in Cedar City. This position does not offer benefits.
This position will function as front door security for the protection of court personnel and facilities; Perform position functions in arraignment, magistrate or district courts; Escort prisoners to and from court; Obey the order of command and assist the Judge in tasks when asked to do so; Obtain commitment orders and review for completeness; Assure proper case numbers; Maintain detailed daily log of activities of the court; Write detailed reports on incidents that occur in the courtroom or courthouse that result in criminal charges or arrest; Process commitment according to established procedures; Assure proper processing of prisoners; Open court by announcing entrance of judge; Seat witnesses and jurors in specified areas of courtroom; Observe courtroom congregation to ensure proper conduct and order is maintained and for violations of regulations; such as unacceptable or inappropriate use of microphones, cameras, movie cameras or any other device that would prove disruptive or threaten the security of court proceedings; Eject or arrest individuals disturbing proceedings; Carry out instructions of judge.
Must hold and maintain a valid Utah Drivers License with an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass a drug screen and a thorough criminal background investigation.

- Qualifications include:** high school diploma or equivalent GED and **valid Utah POST Special Function Certification or have graduated from POST Academy** and are able to obtain Utah certification. Preference may be given to those who are LEO certified. Two years of related experience is preferred.
