What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Technologist - Casual position at IRMC?
In this role you will be:
- Perform high-quality ultrasound exams in areas such as abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, and small parts, based on certifications and clinical need.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and address any questions or concerns.
- Prepare and position patients properly for imaging to ensure optimal image quality.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and adjust settings based on exam requirements and patient anatomy.
- Capture and analyze sonographic images to assist in diagnosis, ensuring proper documentation in PACS and EMR systems.
- Collaborate with radiologists and providers to ensure appropriate protocols and follow-up imaging when needed.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform daily quality assurance checks.
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines, including universal precautions and proper handling of supplies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document relevant medical history, symptoms, and exam findings.
- Assist with training of new staff or students as directed.
- Support departmental workflow and scheduling, ensuring timely and efficient patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- EDUCATION: Successful completion of an approved school of ultrasonography program.
- EXPERIENCE: 2 years current ultrasound technologist experience preferred
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Registered with the ARRT(M) upon hire
- BLS certification required or obtained within 1 month of hire
