What are the responsibilities and job description for the BH Recreation Aide - Mountains Behavioral Health - Part Time position at IRMC?
Supports safe and effective delivery of recreational and therapeutic programming within inpatient behavioral health services. Works under the direction of clinical leadership to maintain a structured, therapeutic milieu.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating therapeutic and recreational group activities.
- Encourage patient participation and engagement in structured programming.
- Support development of coping skills, socialization, and emotional regulation through activities.
- Monitor patient behavior and maintain a safe, structured therapeutic milieu.
- Report changes in patient behavior, mood, or safety concerns to nursing staff immediately.
- Assist with patient observation responsibilities as assigned, in accordance with unit protocols.
- Maintain awareness of suicide precautions and environmental safety expectations.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary treatment team members.
- Document patient participation and behaviors in accordance with facility standards.
- Set up and maintain activity spaces, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
- Remove unsafe or contraband items as directed.
- Assist with patient transport and unit programming as directed by clinical staff.
- Demonstrate professional boundaries and trauma-informed care approaches.
- May be required to float to other behavioral health units as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and respond appropriately during behavioral health emergencies.
- Does not provide clinical assessment or therapy; escalates all clinical concerns to licensed staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Experience working in behavioral health, including facilitating group activities or working in structured programming environments, preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: BLS certification required or obtained within 1 month of hire.
