Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival, manage reservations using OpenTable or similar systems, and seat guests efficiently.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing guest inquiries, taking orders accurately, and ensuring timely delivery of food and beverages.
- Upsell menu items and specials to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales opportunities.
- Handle POS transactions seamlessly using systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, including cash handling and credit card processing.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by bussing tables, resetting dining areas, and supporting food safety protocols.
- Assist with food handling and basic food preparation when needed, ensuring compliance with sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure a smooth flow of service during busy nights or events like nightclub evenings.
- Manage guest relations proactively by resolving concerns promptly and ensuring every guest leaves satisfied.
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant roles, especially in fine dining or upscale environments.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, or similar platforms; experience with OpenTable is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests warmly and professionally.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks during high-volume periods.
- Ability to upsell menu items confidently to enhance guest experience and revenue.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures.
- Previous host/hostess experience or front-of-house hospitality background preferred.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, cashiering, and transaction accuracy.
- Familiarity with the food industry’s standards for serving, bussing, and food preparation is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a positive attitude; ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment.
