Position Summary
Assist in the kitchen with cooking and cleaning responsibilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Wash breakfast, lunch, snacks, and food prep dishes.
- Help serve lunch to preschool, daycare, ADA, and staff.
- Help deliver products to departments on campus.
- Keep condiment containers filled.
- Keep classroom carts, pots, pans, silverware, and dishes neat and orderly.
- Help put up stock, organize, and inventory
- Keep the pantry, freezer, and refrigerator organized, clean, and neat.
- Keep tables and cabinets neat and order in the kitchen and café.
- Remove trash from the kitchen and dining room. Dispose of as needed.
- Empty cardboard daily
- Bring in floor mats at the beginning of the shift and remove and clean them at the end of the day.
- Fill and distribute water containers on the playground.
- Mop kitchen and dish room floors daily
- Keep the dishwashing area clean and organized
- Keep cleaning materials stocked for the dish machine
- Follow all sanitation guidelines as outlined by DCDEE and the Department of Environmental Health
- Make sure that all personal items are locked up and not in the kitchen area.
- Ensure that all chemicals or aerosol containers are locked up when not in use.
- Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Report all repairs needed for building and housekeeping to immediate supervisor.
Education/Training
Dietary experience preferred.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older. Need to be Qualified under the North Carolina Child Care ACT
Special Skills/Abilities
Ability to follow instructions. Ability to communicate efficiently with other staff and members of the community. Be a flexible team player.

Other Qualifications or Requirements
Mental Effort: Ability to understand and follow general verbal and written instructions. Good common sense thinking and ability to function independently.
Visual Effort: Must be able to read all types of print including small print, and in different lighting environments.
Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting up to 40 pounds independently. Must be free from communicable diseases. Keep annual physical and TB Test up to date.
Safety: Help promote a safe environment for all clients, staff, etc. by reporting unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor.
Working Conditions: Well lighted and ventilated, even temperature, accessible parking. Work will be primarily indoors.
