Position Summary

Responsible for the daily operations of the residential group home.  Directly supervise Direct Support Professionals, Medication technicians and Direct Support Professionals\Supervisors on all shifts. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Ensure the safety and well-being of the clients at all times.
2. Ensure that all job responsibilities of Direct Support Professionals, Medication technicians and Shift Leaders are met on a daily basis.
3. Ensure ICF/IID regulations are followed at all times.
4. Ensure that IWC/IWRC Policies and Procedures are followed at all times.
5. Be able and willing to perform any and all of the job responsibilities of the Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals\Supervisors as needed.  Be flexible and willing to work vacant shifts as needed.
6. Complete assigned tasks and, when needed, be willing to complete special tasks.
7. Assist with training new Direct Support Professionals
8. Supervise the Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals\Supervisors.
9. Staff Scheduling and ensuring coverage for all shifts. Be available by phone to answer staff questions.
10. Responsible for keeping client and house petty cash with an accurate account of receipts and money.
11. Be familiar with and monitor house budget through purchase requisitions, overtime reports, and salary sheets.
12. Carry out all disciplinary actions and staff counseling sessions in accordance with IWC/IWRC.
13. Complete yearly and 90-day evaluations on all staff.
14. Conduct monthly staff meetings.
15. Keep accurate, up-to-date training records on all staff; ensure required trainings are completed in a timely manner.
16. Keep and monitor all employee attendance and leave records for all staff.
17. Attend all management team meetings as needed.
18. Attend all client IPP meetings as needed.
19. Attend quarterly medication reviews as needed.
20. When families are visiting or calling, attend to their needs.
21. Assist with preparation for all annual inspections (Health/Sanitation, Fire, ICF relicensing, Life/Safety).
22. Monitor fire drills and fire drill documentation for completion and accuracy.
23. Assist with monitoring program documentation.
24. Perform on-call duties as needed.
25. Coordinate and organize community inclusion activities.
26. Purchase all needed household and programmatic items as needed.
27. Assist the QIDDP.
28. Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain valid North Carolina’s Driver’s License and good driving record.

Assist in providing a normalized atmosphere appropriate to the needs of the residents.

Education/Training

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, with some ICF/IID experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications

Must be eighteen years of age or older, possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License, Clean criminal background and health care registry check.

Special Skills/Abilities

Ability to work effectively with individuals with special needs.  Ability to follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to record basic data and document observations, events and medications.  Ability to communicate with other staff and members of the community.  Be a flexible team player.

IWC/IWRC staff, employees, parents/guardians, client families, and Volunteers.

Other Qualifications or Requirements

Mental Effort:                            Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions. Ability to function independently.

Visual Effort:                             Ability to visually monitor and supervise clients and staff in various situations and activities.

Physical Requirements:              Heavy lifting (40 – 60 pounds) independently. Endure prolonged periods of bending and standing.  Must be able to work long shifts with a great deal of physical labor/activity.   Must be free from communicable diseases.  Keep annual physical and TB Test up to date.

Safety:                                      Behavior problems such as aggression of clients and/or lifting could cause bodily injury.  Must be familiar with and able to follow OSHA Guidelines and Universal Precautions.  Must be able to meet job requirements with regard to CPR/First Aid and NCI certification and Back Injury Prevention/Safety and Lifting.  Help promote a safe environment for all clients, staff, etc. by reporting unsafe conditions to immediately supervisor.

Working Conditions:                   Well lighted and ventilated, even temperature, accessible parking. Work will be primarily indoors in all three residential facilities with some exposure to conditions, which are slightly disagreeable such as toileting and feeding.
