The Strategic Planning Director-VP is responsible for leading a team of Strategic Planners, Senior Planners and Planning Directors, while serving as strategic lead in developing communication strategy for new and existing business opportunities. The Assistant Director-VP mentors planners in understanding and monitoring a variety of therapeutic areas and treatment trends. This individual is responsible for staying on top of emerging therapeutic areas for new business opportunities and assembles teams for pitches. This individual will also act as the key point person for clients and the team when the Director, Strategic Planning is out of the office.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop strategic communication plans in conjunction with Strategic Planning Director -EVP
Develop key target for products
Lead primary and secondary research
Mentor team of planners in conducting comprehensive literature and internet searches
Design and conduct primary market research studies to uncover critical insights for both new and existing business (e.g. identify KOLs, moderate KOL and community practice interviews, recommend and employ projective research techniques, etc.)
Serve as key consultant for clients on market research design, methodology and results (qual and quant)
Demonstrate strong level of understanding of pharmaceutical brand marketing and promotional strategy to provide strategic recommendations to account/creative teams and clients
Lead strategy of brand positioning and creative brief development
Lead the design of client workshops (e.g. positioning workshops, etc
Maintain senior level client relationships
Manage strategic planning team in terms of delegating projects and employee career development
Lead new business initiatives
Demonstrate deep knowledge of HCP behavior
QUALIFICATIONS
10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience: marketing, advertising, market research, consulting
Strategic planning experience (pharmaceutical advertising) preferred
Advanced degree preferred
Proactive, dynamic, hard-working, entrepreneurial
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong presentation skills
Strong client service skills (for both internal account/creative teams and external clients)
Proficient multi-tasker - able to handle assigned projects as well as consulting within department
Team player attitude
Travel requirements: Approximately 15-25% travel (market research, client meetings, conferences, etc.)
Salary
$165,000 to $189,800 annually
