What is a Maintenance Mechanic?
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment and systems within the facility to ensure reliable and efficient operations. This role focuses on mechanical components of production equipment and supports both preventative and corrective maintenance activities. The position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting safe plant operations.
What You Can Expect to Do as a Maintenance Mechanic:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on production equipment and facility systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, conveyors, and other equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify root causes
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical components
- Assist with installation and setup of new equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintenance standards
- Support inspections and identify potential mechanical issues
- Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to support operations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
What We Are Looking For in a Maintenance Mechanic:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred
- 3–7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques
- Experience with pumps, motors, gearboxes, and related equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics preferred
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Good communication and teamwork skills
