Summary: The purpose of this position is to promote and provide a safe, secure, and interactive campus community. This position is responsible for overseeing and sustaining a safe and secure campus for all residents. The Assistant Coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in the recruitment and retention of a full competitive roaster. Follows all Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD), Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations in administering the program. Supports the development of the student athletes. Assist with the coordination of travel, game schedule, recruiting, inventory and maintenance of equipment. Assist with game management duties.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manages housing according to building assignment and Resident Assistants (RA) at those locations. Assists with RA application review and hiring. Takes call according to scheduled weekends and oversees all buildings and RA's during that time.
• Inspects assigned buildings daily.
• Manages on and off campus activities.
• Processes housing applications. Assigns rooms to new students and returning students moving to another housing unit. Assists with other housing processes and procedures.
• Reviews weekly RA on-duty reports. Schedules and conducts weekly RA meetings, monthly dormitory meetings, and nightly dormitory hall monitoring. - Serves on coaching staff to provide an environment for successful recruitment and retention of student athletes. Supports the development of student athletes' success in the classroom and in their respective sport. Coordinates travel, game schedule and game management.
• Provides for program needs within allocated budget, including inventory of all equipment and uniforms. Assists with maintenance of team and college equipment. Develops on and off campus relationships that support the success of the position. Assists with program and department fundraising.
• Assures compliance with all IVCCD, ICCAC and NJCAA rules and regulations.
• Provide game day management duties and drive teams to sporting events as needed for all athletic programs.
• Assists Housing Department as needed. - Works and communicates professionally with others. Performs in a manner which benefits student learning. Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Associate's degree required; Bachelors preferred. Experience can be substituted for education. College coaching and scholarship management preferred.
Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a diverse population of students. Knowledge and ability to organize multiple priorities and job duties. Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols.
Base Wage: $40,000-$53,000 annually - actual salary will be based on experience and education.
