Job Description
Join the rapidly growing College of Design and play a key role in shaping the next generation of designers as an Undergraduate Recruiter II (Student Recruiter II) in the Office of Marketing and Enrollment Strategy. In this dynamic position, you'll represent the college across Iowa, the nation, and potentially internationally, promoting undergraduate programs and guiding prospective first-year and transfer students through the admissions process.
The Undergraduate Recruiter II is responsible for advancing undergraduate enrollment goals through strategic recruitment efforts, effective verbal and written communication, student team leadership, scholarship administration, event planning and execution, and project management. This role also involves tracking recruitment outcomes, analyzing effectiveness, and using data to inform future strategies. As the college's primary point of contact for prospective student inquiries and the Office of Admissions, you'll collaborate closely with admissions staff, campus partners, faculty, staff, and current students to support a seamless recruitment experience.
In addition, this position coordinates the College of Design's annual week-long summer camp for high school students, overseeing all aspects of planning and logistics—from facility reservations to ensuring compliance with Office of Risk Management requirements.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic communicator who is comfortable with public speaking, enjoys building relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends while traveling or representing the College of Design at recruitment events.

Example of Duties
- Recruits prospective undergraduate freshmen and transfer students from other educational institutions both domestically and internationally.
- Plans and hosts events, including student open houses, visits, tours, and off-site receptions.
- Identifies and implements methods to meet college undergraduate enrollment goals.
- Travels, reviews portfolios, and gives presentations about the university and College of Design undergraduate programs to student groups.
- Manages, awards, and reports on College of Design’s recruitment scholarship program.
- Serves as project manager for annual summer camp for high school students.
- Counsels students and their families, counselors, and advisers, regarding the admission processes.
- Supervises student ambassadors who support recruit efforts.
- Tracks and reports on return on investment of all recruitment efforts.
- Serves as point of contact for Office of Admissions and relevant off-campus groups.
- Background or experience in art, design, or a related creative field.
- Experience in higher education recruitment, admissions, academic advising, or a similar student-facing role that involves communicating with prospective students and families who may have limited knowledge of the college admissions process.
- Demonstrated experience delivering engaging presentations and speaking confidently to various audiences.
- Experience developing, coordinating, or facilitating youth programs, camps, workshops, or other educational outreach initiatives.
- Experience planning, organizing, and executing events, including managing logistics, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and ensuring successful event outcomes.
