The iONE Digital portfolio focuses on key passion points and interests, including men’s and women’s lifestyle, sports, beauty, fashion, and entertainment - comprised of Cassius, HelloBeautiful, MadameNoire, Bossip, NewsOne, GlobalGrind, HipHopWired, BlackAmericaWeb and Elev8. Each iONE brand is an authoritative voice in its own right. In addition to publishing brands, iONE Digital is home to the original social network for urban millennials, BlackPlanet, and three YouTube brands – The Fumble, Hollyscoop, and Nerdwire.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Regularly contribute, assign and edit original pieces and provocative opinion editorials to MadameNoire.Conduct original interviews with relevant talent in person, by phone and on camera for editorial and multimedia exclusives.Attend and cover relevant events, TV show and movie premieres, developing original content that is of interest to our audience.Work alongside the Managing Editor to help adhere to and enforce the breaking news strategy across iOne’s national brands especially as it relates to MadameNoire.Pitch in with daily news briefs and unique analysis pieces as neededPublish 3-5 posts daily on MadameNoire and assist with social media posting as neededBrainstorm original tentpole series and content ideas regularly.Review submitted freelancer project pitches as needed.Monitor social media to discover trending news and hot topics to cover.Use site analytics to determine which content is most engaging and performs well.Ideate or suggest graphics to illustrate stories.Create and cultivate relationships with PR reps/brands.Assist in helping Staff Writers improve the clarity, consistency, and overall quality of content.Must have availability for weekend hours.Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory trainings and adheres to related course deadlines.CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:Must be an avid consumer of news, current events, politics, and entertainment and culture topics, with particular attention to content related to African-American Millennial audiences.Ability to create viral/high-trafficking content that is not dependent on celebrity news.Have a strong knowledge of reporting and editing standards and practices.Be able to work a full-time schedule in office and abide by the nature of a 24-hour news cycle.Possess multimedia aptitude, particularly in the areas of photos, videos, and audio.EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (preferred) in journalism, liberal arts, or English, Previous experience for a lifestyle magazine or women’s website.Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to write flawless copy on deadline in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
