What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Womens Basketball Operations position at Iona University?
Iona University, an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Womens Basketball Director of Basketball Operations. This is a full-time, 12-month position and reports the Head Womens Basketball Coach.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in all aspects of the operation of the University's Womens Basketball program.
- Assist the head coach in overseeing the academic excellence of all student-athletes that are involved with the program.
- Provide positive leadership to student-athletes.
- Provide day-to-day oversight of administrative and operations functions for the basketball program, and manage calendar for entire program, related to practices, games, meetings, appointments, team events, camps, and clinics.
- Coordinate all logistics for team travel, including but not limited to transportation, lodging, and meals.
- Act as point person for program and liaison with various departments on campus, as well as with visiting teams.
- Coordinate the onboarding of all incoming womens basketball student-athletes, and hire a staff of team managers, as well as practice players.
- Mentor a group of student-athletes on the team academically, instilling in them the importance of time-management, organization, and conscientiousness.
- Conduct film exchange, organize community service activities and youth camps, and manage equipment.
Minimum work experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 years of working experience in Athletics
- High level Organizational Skills
- Demonstrated commitment and motivation to building a successful program
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills
