Iona University Department of Nursing invites applications for 11-month full-time faculty non-tenure track Clinical Lecturer of Nursing to teach in its MS in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner program. Applicants should have a record of teaching and practice experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner and as a Nurse Educator. Responsibilities include curriculum development, delivery of high-quality learning experiences, evaluation of student learning, and mentorship to Master’s-level FNP students. The faculty member should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, continued professional development, have a record of service to the School/University, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the university. The position begins August 15, 2026 and is a 11-month position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in the Master of Science in Nursing Family Practitioner program. As a core faculty member of the program, the candidate is expected to teach a combination of courses spanning several areas including ……
- Participate and contribute to the ongoing development of the program’s curriculum needs including curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation.
- Advise and mentor graduate students in the program
- Demonstrate professional development in their field of expertise
- Actively engage in service to the program, NYP Iona School of Health Sciences and the University at large by serving on various committees
- Support and participate in the University’s system of shared governance.
- Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Demonstrate appreciation and respect for the Iona University, its Mission, and the heritage of the Christian Brothers, as well as the ability to establish and nurture strong collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Credentials:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing: Nurse Practitioner specialty
- New York State unencumbered APRN License
- Hold a national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in teaching at the collegiate level
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience within areas of expertise
Preferred Education and Credentials:
- CNE certification
- Recognized scholarly experience as evidenced by academic accomplishments, publications, and service commensurate with the rank of appointment
Required Skills and Experience:
- Have an established clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Exhibit a strong understanding of and dedication to fostering a collaborative and professional working and learning environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong computer skills that include proficiency Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint and ability to quickly learn other software platforms
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Working knowledge of regulations for FNP nursing education
- Experience teaching in online or hybrid format in higher education
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
