Adjunct Instructor - Computing Essentials: Algorithms to AI (76352)

The Department of Computer Science at Iona University welcomes applications for an adjunct position to teach an introductory undergraduate course on Computing Essentials: Algorithms to AI. The course offers a broad, hands-on introduction to a variety of introductory CS topics such as Python programming, basic data science, foundations of AI, intro to Cybersecurity and to Game Development. Detailed course materials and guidance by full--time faculty will be provided to the course instructor. The instructor should be able to teach one or two afternoon sections (2pm to 3:18pm and/or 3:30pm to 4:48pm) twice a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays). The candidate should be able to relate well to students and be willing to hold regular office hours to assist students with the course work and projects.  The candidate must be willing to submit all required assessment materials as instructed by the assessment coordinator.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching undergraduate courses in computer science.
• Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, labs, and assignments that align with course objectives and promote active learning.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments, projects, and assessments to support their academic growth and development.
• Assess student learning outcomes.
• Hold regular office hours to assist students with coursework and projects.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Graduate Course Rates - $1328-$1562 per credit, based on qualifications

Undergraduate Course Rate - $1273.00 per credit

• Master’s degree, PhD preferred, in Computer Science or a related field.  Candidates with relevant industry experience and a passion for teaching are encouraged to apply.
