Job Description
IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.
Our client is looking for a Windows Systems Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- High quality support of servers with minimal oversight.
- Select and implement server and application monitoring software.
- Create an inventory of all server software and tools and develop a roadmap with a repeatable process to ensure all are upgraded on a regular basis.
- User support and triage of issues, and timely resolution of assigned tickets.
- The ability to be a value-add resource by being proactive and applying analytical and critical thinking to work toward a successful outcome, not just following a list of steps.
- Identifying patterns of tickets to isolate true root cause and propose solutions and/or changes.
- Communication of important updates and/or necessary changes to Management, where appropriate
- Recommendation for design improvements to existing solutions.
- Standard development environment requirements, to include documentation and task tracking
- Support for other OCI IT team initiatives as needed.
- The ability to be a value-add resource by being proactive and applying analytical and critical thinking to work toward a successful outcome, not just following a list of steps.
- Analyze and make recommendations for modernization.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root cause.
- General knowledge of database best practices.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal (phone/video) and written (email).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and task management skills.
Location: Madison, WI (100% remote. On site in Madison, WI approximately once a quarter (at candidate’s expense). If not resident of WI, candidates must relocate at their own expense prior to starting. Preference will be given to WI residents.
Contract: 1 years
Skills Required:
- 13 years - Experience with Windows Server Administration, performing and supporting upgrades of server software, application software
- Maintenance of Tomcat and Apache instances on the servers.
- Experience with Jfrog Artifactory; Bit Bucket and Bamboo; Jira.
- Experience with server and application monitoring software.
- Inventory all server software and develop and implement a roadmap for upgrades, modernization, consolidation.
- Strong SDLC best practices
Skills Desired – A plus to have:
- Tableau; Java; NodeJS/ViewJS; SQL Scripting
- Alteryx or other ETL tools Alfresco (for Document Management); PerfectForms.
- State and/or Local Government work history
- Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid SDLC (and the ability to determine the best approach given a business need).
