What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radio Engineer position at IO Datasphere?
Our client seeks a Radio Engineer. This position is the recognized resource responsible for the development of radio programming files for distribution and installation.
The position is responsible for identifying existing and request new Radio IDs, Talkgroups and Encryption for use in developing and building the templates installed into the client’s radios. This position requires the extensive use of computer skills, and this person must be able to accurately enter data into the radio programming files and associated asset management software (EAM) and databases.
Tasks:
- Recognized resource for building radio programming templates for all client’s radios in the Metro Region totaling 44,401 radios Individual tasks related to the duty:
- Using EAM, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel, this position is responsible for compiling, recording and making database entries into the EAM system and associated databases
- Responsible for the programming radios.
- Supports other technical areas of client as required.
NOTE: Local candidates (strongly preferred) or non-local (must be willing to relocate at their own expense from acceptance with no delays & follow the hybrid schedule). Resource will be working a hybrid schedule. NO REMOTE ONLY OPTION. Will need to be onsite from day 1, two days a week.)

Skills Required:
- 3 years’ Experience as a Radio/Communications Technician
- 2 years’ Experience with P25 Radio Programming (Motorola & Kenwood)
- FCC General Radio Telephone License, APCO Certificate, or approved equivalent
Skills Desired – A plus to have:
- Military/Public Safety/Radio Communications (not Network)
- Two-way radio experience
- Previous P25 encryption experience/KMF (AES)
