Description
This role requires the application of engineering theories and related knowledge to design industrial automation systems and tooling. Senior Principal Engineer Managers must possess a working knowledge of mechanical principles and an understanding of 3D models, layout drawings, and engineering specifications in addition to the ability to work independently and manage various projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will possess a continuous improvement mindset and have a passion for improving engineering standards and process flow. Challenging Invio’s program managers, project engineers, designers and detailers to integrate sound engineering practices into the design of advanced industrial solutions will be a high priority. The individual must possess a sound technical background, have a strong desire to develop engineering talent, and be capable of managing multiple priorities and customers. Demonstrating exceptional customer service and responsiveness is a requirement.

A four year degree in design, mechanical engineering, manufacturing or a related field, AND at least five years of related experience. Machine design experience preferred. Requires at least two years of experience managing staff and multiple projects. Requires at least five years of mechanical 3D solid modeling experience and proficiency in Solidworks. Must have basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Passion for growth and the desire to build the engineering depth and capability required to expand Invio Automation suite of solutions and market penetration across multiple industries
- Operational and engineering technical depth to lead the implementation of engineering design standards across Invio Automation suite of solutions
- Hands-on experience and technical acumen to successfully lead internal and external design reviews, customer buy-offs, and root cause analysis in the field
- Actively manage awarded programs to ensure key milestone gates are achieved and customers receive turn-key solutions delivered right the first time
- Oversee customer scope of work to ensure all contractual terms and conditions are met
- Possesses proactive behavior, takes initiative, seeks continuous improvement
- Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, colleagues and customers both orally and written
- Manage a team of up to a dozen mechanical engineers in day to day activity and project completion
- Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, communicate and document requisite information per established Innovative policies and procedures
- Monitor team activities and progress against budgets and schedules, pushing for Engineering Change Orders as required and ensuring that communication internally and to the customer is clear and timely
- Conceptualize and review designs and assemblies for a variety of moderately complex to complex automated stations and systems
- Analyze as-built tool design information and prepare design update plans
- Understand customer needs, apply technical knowledge to identify process requirements, recommend and implement custom engineered solutions
- Demonstrate Engineering professionalism in all activities and provide efficient service to customers
