Marine Rigging Technician

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Marine Rigging Technician to join our Marine Service & Warranty Center. This role is responsible for the installation, rigging, setup, testing, and troubleshooting of marine systems and components to ensure vessels meet manufacturer specifications and operational standards.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience rigging boats and marine systems, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to safely operate and trailer vessels for testing, delivery, and service purposes. Experience operating boats during sea trials or holding a captain’s license is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform installation and rigging of marine components including outboard engines, steering systems, controls, electronics, plumbing, and accessories.
• Install and route wiring harnesses, batteries, switches, pumps, and marine electrical components.
• Install fuel systems, plumbing lines, and related marine hardware.
• Rig helm stations, throttle and shift controls, hydraulic steering, and rigging tubes.
• Assist with commissioning and setup of newly serviced or repaired vessels.
• Conduct system testing and operational checks to verify proper installation and functionality.
• Operate boats during water testing and sea trials to confirm performance and functionality.
• Safely trailer boats for transport between facilities, marinas, and test locations.
• Support warranty repair work by assisting technicians with removal and reinstallation of marine systems.
• Ensure all rigging work meets company quality standards, safety requirements, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate work progress with Service Advisors and management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Experience & Certifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in marine rigging, mechanical installation, or boat service.
• Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, steering systems, fuel systems, and marine hardware installation.
• Experience operating boats safely in open water and marina environments.
• Experience trailering boats using trucks and trailers of various sizes.
• Valid driver’s license.
Desired Experience:
• Captain’s license or extensive experience operating offshore fishing boats.
• Experience conducting sea trials and vessel performance testing.
• Experience working in a boat manufacturing facility, marine service center, or dealership environment.
• Familiarity with marine electronics installation and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with warranty repairs and service documentation.
Physical & Work Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle marine equipment and tools.
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work on boats for extended periods.
• Ability to work around water, docks, trailers, and marine equipment safely.
• Willingness to work in shop, marina, and outdoor marine environments.
