We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Short and Intermediate Effectors for Layered Defense Project Office (SHIELD). In this role, you will directly work with Lower Tier Interceptor Product Office Leadership and Chief Engineer to ensure the product’s success through rigorous engineering methods and technical expertise. You will support multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams to develop solutions that support developmental and operational goals.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Short and Intermediate Effectors for Layered Defense Project Office (SHIELD). In this role, you will directly work with Lower Tier Interceptor Product Office Leadership and Chief Engineer to ensure the product’s success through rigorous engineering methods and technical expertise. You will support multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams to develop solutions that support developmental and operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Support all lifecycle phases of Systems Engineering to include identification and management, analysis of alternatives, architecture development, systems software, integration, testing, deployment, performance-based logistics, and disposal of systems.
- Provide programmatic and technical knowledge that is informed by a comprehensive understanding of the greater mission context, DoD systems development process, and stakeholder roles and requirements to ensure concepts, ideas, and expectations are communicated accurately and effectively among all customers.
- Provide subject matter expertise on engineering processes, standards, options, and documentation processes for application to rapid development and acquisition programs.
- Provide knowledge of systems engineering methods to assess and evaluate the status, effectiveness, and efficiency of programs and technologies.
- Conduct analysis and provide recommendations to minimize costs, schedule, and technical risk and maximize effectiveness.
- Review technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with the product requirements and applicable standards.
- Work with Army, OSD and DoD organizations and related staff processes associated with the DoD acquisition process.
- Provide effective verbal and written communication skills while adapting communication styles to suit different audiences or facilitate group discussions and develop accurate written materials to clearly and concisely communicate information
- ABET accredited BS degree or BS in technical field
- 20 years of related experience
- 5 years Patriot missile experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting DoW engineering programs (missile development and manufacturing experience is highly preferred).
- Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and technical data.
- Some travel
- Must have an in-scope DoW Secret security clearance.
