About the Role
San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead and manage all aspects of Plant Operations, Environmental Services (EVS), and Grounds. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations that support high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage ~45 FTEs across Plant Operations, Maintenance, and EVS
- Oversee facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, and utilities
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of heat, power, gas, and oxygen for hospital operations
- Drive preventive maintenance programs and equipment inspections
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and local building/fire codes
- Manage vendor and contractor performance and compliance
- Collaborate with internal departments to assess needs and implement solutions
- Develop staff expectations, training programs, and customer service standards
- Address employee and customer concerns promptly and professionally
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
- 5 years of leadership/people management experience
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and boiler systems
- Life safety codes and regulatory compliance
- Autoclaving and bio-waste management
- Construction and facility operations
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex building systems
