Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant assists in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the accounting and reporting of operational results. They understand all accounting department roles and processes and can temporarily complete essential tasks if an accounting employee is absent. Independent judgment and discretion in executing their duties are necessary with a high degree of confidentiality and attention to detail.
Essential Functions:
1. Help the controller to ensure that key accounting functions run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently by coordinating with accounting personnel.
2. Responsible for accounting in areas such as Fixed Assets, Leased Assets, Warranty Reserve, Allowance for Returns & Other, General Ledger, and other areas.
3. Ensure we follow and complete Sarbanes Oxley and Internal Controls requirements. Communicate with external and internal auditors and satisfy their requirements.
4. Treasury function: approve online bank wire/ACH payments after ensuring they are accurate and properly approved. Sign vendor checks (1 of 2 signatures required) and review for reasonability of vendor paid and payment amount.
5. Create customer credit note requests and obtain proper approvals and follow through to completion.
6. Make monthly journal entries, analyze accounting transactions and cost center expenses, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
7. Perform financial result reporting monthly, quarterly, and annually, and other reporting as required. Help compile forecasts and the annual budget.
8. Complete, review, or assist in regulatory filing, including property tax, annual reports, and unclaimed property. Ensure tax payments are made timely.
9. Backup for Accounting Assistant to perform essential Billing tasks if necessary, including creating customer invoices and customer claims/credit note requests.
10. Backup for Staff Accountant to perform essential Accounts Receivable tasks if necessary, including cash posting of customer receipts, customer credit limit analysis to minimize risk, and cash flow analysis.
11. Assists the Controller with other accounting duties as necessary.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred and/or equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
2. Affiliations with successful manufacturing companies preferred.
3. Minimum five (5) years of experience ideally gained through an increasingly responsible accounting or finance position within a manufacturing environment.
4. Must have working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems and well-developed financial analysis abilities. Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs with an emphasis on Excel. SAP experience preferred.
5. Must have sound administrative and well-developed organizational skills.
6. Must have a high energy level and be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.
7. Superior numeric and analysis skills are essential.
8. Must have developed interpersonal skills; ability to get along well with diverse personalities and be tactful, mature, and flexible.
9. Must be able to establish credibility and be decisive, yet recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
11. Must be results and profit-oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.
Licenses or Certifications (Required/Preferred):
1. CPA preferred
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Senior Accountant will not have supervisory responsibilities.
Travel:
Occasional travel may be required. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel when necessary.
Work Environment:
Much of the time will be spent in an office environment. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary role, involving sitting at a desk in front of a computer for extended periods.

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
